What is an estate after death?
After someone passes away, a person known as the deceased person’s executor or administrator, deals with their money and property (known as the 'deceased estate'). The executor settles the deceased person’s outstanding debts and taxes, and distributes their money and property to those who are entitled to it (heirs and beneficiaries). Once this process is complete, the deceased estate can be finalised and closed.
