How long does it take to get inheritance money?
The time it takes to administer a deceased estate depends on the complexity of the estate, and this affects how long it takes to receive an inheritance. By law, an executor is required to submit a Liquidation and Distribution (L&D) account to the Master of the High Court within six months of the date of the Letters of Executorship (LoE) being issued. However, the overall total time to administer an estate can vary. Our business rule is to aim to administer all deceased estates within nine months.
